Synopsis
“The Lame Dog of Antarctica” is a children’s short animated film about the discoverers of the South Pole and the first Bulgarian base on the Antarctic region. “The Lame Dog” is the name of the Bulgarian polar base. The story is told through the eyes of the polar explorer Prof. Pimpirev (Bulgarian biggest scientist and adventurer). The animation is done in two animation techniques. We will use the voiceover of the narrator – Professor Hristo Pimpirev as a pre-recorded conversation interview.
The hand-drawn, “breathing” animation is the first flashback episode that follows the dynamic race and battle for the South Pole by Robert Scott’s and Amundsen’s crews.
The narrative continues in a voluminous (stop-motion) puppet animation. Prof. Pimpirev tells us how he got inspired by the stories of the great discoverers, how he became a scientist, and how he went on his first expedition to Antarctica, where he met the Lame Dog. The little hut begins a fight for its life.
