Antarctica – Refuge of the Future

On the verge of the 33rd Bulgarian Antarctic expedition, Professor Hristo Pimpirev looks back at his Antarctica and the dream that began 30 years ago with two containers left on the unfamiliar shores of Livingston Island. Today, this dream is alive and growing, transformed into a modern Bulgarian scientific base, a symbol of faith, perseverance, and dedication. Bulgaria is no longer just present on the Ice Continent; it is an active participant in the preservation and exploration of one of the last pristine places on Earth, which scientists increasingly call a “refuge for the future.” Behind it all stands a man who turned his personal mission into a national cause.
